The Biewer Terrier was imported from breeders Werner and Gertrud Biewer (Biewer is pronounced like "Beaver") in Germany and is the first dog breed with the distinction of being recognized as a proper breed through DNA analysis. It is a Yorkshire Terrier with a recessive gene that is usually rare in Yorkies. The Biever represents the best of breeds, usually with a happy-go-lucky attitude. Biewer Terriers have a long coat and require regular grooming, either getting brushed often or frequent clippings at the groomer (with brushings in between). Biewers are loyal, friendly, smart, and easy to train.
