The Biewer Terrier was imported from Germany. It was bred from Yorkshire dogs that had a recessive gene. Germany does not recognize the breed, though the American Kennel Club recognized the Biewer Terrier in 2021. Biewer is pronounced Beaver, and the breed bears the name of the dedicated German breeder couple that created it. For a while, it was called the German Yorkshire Terrier. They are a happy-go-lucky breed.
